ACTS now accepting session proposals and abstracts for TS21


The Association for Clinical and Translational Science (ACTS) is now accepting session proposals and abstracts for Translational Science 2021.

Session Proposals

Designed to provide a focused and well-rounded experience, Translational Science education centers around six (6) topic areas. Session proposals should center around these six topics:

  1. Achieving educational attainment
  2. Who we are impacts how we engage
  3. Translational team science
  4. The art of science
  5. The science of learning health systems
  6. The complexity of change

Abstract Character Count

Objective/Goals: 300 characters
Methods/Study Population: 700 characters
Results/Anticipated Results: 700 characters
Discussion/Signficance of Impact: 300 characters

  • All accepted abstracts will be presented as a poster. In addition, some of those abstracts will be selected for a platform presentation. If you do not wish to be considered for a platform presentation, select “Poster Only” in the submission form.
  • If your abstract has been accepted overall, but has not been accepted for an oral platform presentation, it will still be presented as a poster.
  • If you are a TL1 scholar, and select “Poster Only”, you will not be eligible for any TL1 awards. Only those who select “Platform and Poster Presentation” will be considered for a competitive oral presentation and poster awards.

Abstract Submissions Open: October 1
Abstract Submission Deadline: December 2
Abstract Accept/Reject Notification: January 18

Dr. Seble Kassaye, former GHUCCTS KL2 scholar and infectious disease expert at Georgetown University Medical Center, is the principal investigator for a convalescent plasma COVID-19 clinical trial through the Trial Innovation Network (TIN). Dr. Kassaye recently appeared on NBC4 Washington to discuss the trial.

For the last two years, the National Hispanic Council on Aging (NHCOA) has partnered with the National Institutes of Health to raise awareness about the All of Us Research Program (AoU). The All of Us Research Program is inviting one million people across the U.S. to help build one of the most diverse health databases in history. NHCOA’s role in the AoU program is to raise awareness about health research and the program itself. In an effort to do that, we are hosting a webinar entitled, “Lessons from the Field: Conducting health research with hard to reach populations.” This webinar provided a space for researchers and other AoU partners to learn from community researchers who already engage hard to reach populations.
