This month's MHRI-GHUCCTS Monthly Statistical Seminar Series features Paul Kolm, PhD, Associate Director of Department of Biostatistics and Biomedical Informatics at MedStar Health Research Institute. Dr. Kolm will discuss "Competing Risks and Multistate Models."
Abstract: Time-to-event (survival) analyses are used in studies analyzing adichotomous outcome (e.g., death) and the time from a beginning timepoint (e.g., study enrollment, randomization) to occurrence of the endpoint. In many studies, there are other events that affect the probability of the primary outcome. These are known as competing risks. We will look at several applications of competing risks as well asmultistate models where several outcomes are analyzed simultaneously.
