Through multiple partnerships and collaborations among the member institutions, GHUCCTS is transforming clinical research and translational science in order to bring new scientific advances to improve health care more efficiently and quickly.
GHUCCTS was founded on five basic principles that have been endorsed by each of the member institutions. These serve to identify the overall purpose of the consortium, as well as key aspects of its research activities, governance, and focus. These principles form the foundation of the consortium itself, as well as the GHUCCTS programs of research and education.
GHUCCTS Founding Principles
- The primary goal of GHUCCTS is to improve the infrastructure that supports high quality multidisciplinary clinical and translational research, both via inter-institutional collaborations across all GHUCCTS institutions as well as multicenter clinical trials across the national CTSA consortium, with increasing levels of speed and efficiency, and to develop innovative informatics methods to speed and enhance translation.
- We continue to develop GHUCCTS as a model of inter-institutional collaboration that leverages the strengths and attributes of its diverse participating institutions
- Leverage our location, expertise, and the co-leadership of a minority-serving institution to design and implement research that will have a high impact on all populations that we serve, including people of diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, people with disabilities, older adults, and veterans.
- Design and disseminate vibrant and innovative educational programs at multiple levels (undergraduate, medical school, graduate, study coordinators, research nurses, and junior faculty) that promote team science and provides the highest quality of career development training for the clinical and translational investigators of the future.
- Draw from and contribute to the collective effort of the National CTSA consortium to advance GHUCCTS, the National Center for Advancing Translational Science (NCATS), and the CTSA consortium.
