Research Grand Rounds: Workforce Diversity, Education Informatics, and AI: Challenges, Innovation, and Future Directions

This month's Research Grand Rounds features Toufeeq Ahmed, Ph.D., M.S., Dr. Ahmed is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt Univ Medical Center where he is a (multiple) PI of the Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Consortium to Advance Health Equity and Researcher Diversity (AIM-AHEAD). Dr. Ahmed will discuss "Workforce Diversity, Education Informatics, and AI: Challenges, Innovation, and Future Directions".

Dr. Ahmed is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt Univ Medical Center where he is a (multiple) PI of the Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Consortium to Advance Health Equity and Researcher Diversity (AIM-AHEAD, https://aim-ahead.net), providing national leadership in AI/ML and health equity to establish mutually beneficial, coordinated, and trusted partnerships to enhance the participation and representation of researchers and communities currently underrepresented in the development of AI/ML models and to improve the capabilities of this emerging technology. He is a computer scientist with expertise in natural language processing, information retrieval, and adaptive user interfaces.  As well, Dr. Ahmed developed the MyNRMN platform (https://my.nrmnet.net) and is co-lead of the National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN).

His talk will focus on how AI and Informatics support learners, increase researcher diversity, create mentoring networks, and reduce health disparities.
